BANNER ID – Please know your Banner ID (BXXXXXXXX). Have this ID available when you talk to anybody at ECU and it is helpful to include in your emails. You can add a signature to your ECU email account with your name and Banner ID.

TRANSCRIPTS and AP CREDIT – Send any updated transcripts or AP credit to ECU. These will not come from your High School. AP credit should be sent through College Board and any college transfer credit must come from the college in which that credit was completed. PLEASE INFORM YOUR ACADEMIC ADVISOR OF ANY CREDIT THAT MAY NOT BE VISIBLE IN BANNER SELF SERVICE.

REGISTRATION PIN – You will need a registration PIN in order to register for classes. New freshman will have to complete PIER (Pirate Introduction to ECU Registration) to receive their PIN. After completion you will receive your PIN (six digit code) (on screen and emailed to your ECU email account) and be able to register for courses.

REGISTER FOR CLASSES – Refer to the course guides in PIER to select your first semester classes. If you are bringing in significant AP, IB, early college, or transfer work, please contact your Advising Center for help in selecting the appropriate courses.

REVIEW YOUR COURSE SCHEDULE – Please review your course schedule and be familiar with where all of your classes are located on campus or if your class is online. Click here for a guide on determining if your class is online or face-to-face. See Campus Maps for building locations.

PARKING and BUS ROUTES – To obtain a parking permit or view the parking map, please see our Parking and Transportation website. For a listing of bus routes (campus, off campus, shopping) see Transit Services.

TEXTBOOKSBe sure to get all the books required for your courses. You can find a list of required textbooks for each of your courses through Pirate Port. Search for the textbook link. If you have questions about any required textbook, that should be directed to the instructor of that course. You will also want to visit Dowdy Student Stores for additional information books and materials.

ACADEMIC CALENDAR – Download and/or print the Academic Calendar for the upcoming term. You need to do this at the beginning of every semester and review dates for that term.

CANVAS – Canvas is ECU’s Learning Management System and most of your professors will be using it in their class. Your classes may not be visible on Canvas until the first day of class but continue to check the system a few days prior as some information may be posted. Please get familiar with this system. See Canvas Student Guides.

REVIEW YOUR COURSE SYLLABI – Please review all of your course syllabi (most likely posted in Canvas) and communicate with your instructor any questions or concerns.
